AMD FSR 4 support is officially coming to PlayStation 5 Pro in 2026

Ana sayfa / News

Sony has confirmed that AMD FSR 4 support will arrive on the PlayStation 5 Pro sometime in early 2026. This will bring sharper visuals and better frame generation to upcoming titles, though it won’t be as simple as flipping a switch.

Leaker Moore’s Law is Dead recently stated that the update would land in the first quarter of 2026. This could arrive alongside or just after support for RDNA 3 GPUs. While unofficial, the claim aligns with comments made by Mark Cerny, Sony’s Lead System Architect, who confirmed that FSR 4 is in the pipeline for PS5 Pro.

FSR 4 finally rolls out across most FSR 3.1 titles

FSR 4 is now usable in over 85 games, with AI-powered upscaling and frame-gen that boosts visuals and FPS across most FSR 3.1 titles.

The PlayStation 5 Pro lacks FP8 support, which means the system won’t run the exact AI models used in RDNA 4 GPUs. Because of this, Sony’s implementation of AMD FSR 4 support will need some adaptation. Some features may be scaled down or reworked for compatibility.

Current games won’t benefit from the update right away. Unlike PC, where DLL files can be swapped easily, PlayStation’s upscaling tech doesn’t support system-level DLL replacements. This means developers must patch their games individually to enable support.

Here’s what we know so far:

While this upgrade won’t transform every game instantly, it does reflect Sony’s push to keep the PS5 Pro competitive. AMD’s latest upscaling tech may need fine-tuning, but for new games built around it, the visual payoff could be huge.
